Java and HotJava Binary Releases

Java and HotJava binaries are available from http://java.sun.com, and may be used internally FREE OF CHARGE subject to the copyright and other proprietary notices. The Java and HotJava binary releases may also be redistributed without payment to Sun, in both commercial and non-commercial applications pursuant to the HotJava/Java Binary Code License.

Java and HotJava source code may be obtained from Sun for any of the following purposes:

External Distribution of Products Based on Java or HotJava Source Code
For external distribution of products based on Java or HotJava source code, Java or HotJava source code is available for licensing on a fee basis. Porting and Internal Use of Java and HotJava Source Code
Java and HotJava source code is available for teaching, research, porting, and other internal business purposes (but not for general productive use). A license agreement is available for this purpose. Java Source Release.

Reimplementations of the Java Compiler or the Java Runtime Interpreter are permitted without requiring a license from Sun provided such implementations are created directly from the published specifications and without the direct or indirect use of Sun's own implementations or other intellectual property rights, including trademarks.
