Baseball Splits With Concordia

	The University of Wisconsin La Crosse's men's baseball team split a 
double-header with Concordia-St.Paul.  After falling to Concordia-St. Paul, 
5-4, in the first game the Eagles bounced back with seventeen hits in the 
second game by pounding the Comets, 15-7.

	UW-L earned its way onto the scoreboard first in game one.  The Eagles 
led off with three runs in the first inning and added one in the second.  
La Crosse held onto a 4-0 lead until the sixth inning when the Comets 
scored two runs.

	As the Eagle bats stayed silent, Concordia scored two more runs in the 
seventh inning to tie the game and went on to score one more in the eighth 
to chalk up the victory.

	Senior catcher Bob Clement led the UW-L offense with two hits, 
including a double.  Clement scored one run and added two RBIs to help the 
Eagles.

	Jay Katzenmeyer and Kurt Chapman also added two hits apiece for La Crosse.


	Junior Cory Anderson started the game for UW-L.  He pitched six 
innings, giving up eight hits and three runs.


	In the second game, the Eagle offense exploded, scoring 15 runs on 17 
hits and collecting 12 extra base hits.


	Leading the way for UW-L was junior outfielder Matt Goebel.  He was 
6-for-6, setting a UW-L record, just one week after teammate Kelly Olson 
tied the record going 5-for-5 against Winona State on April 6.  Goebel also 
hit for the cycle with two singles, two doubles, a triple, and a home run.


	Katzenmeyer hit a pair of home-runs and had four RBIs.  Chapman 
collected three hits with three RBIs.


	Senior pitcher Jon Knez picked up the win for UW-L.  Knez gave up four 
runs over five and two-thirds innings.


	The Eagles will host UW-Superior on Frid., April 19 at the baseball 
field at North Campus.  The Eagles will host UW-River Falls on Sat., April 
20.  Both double-headers are sceduled to begin at 1 p.m.
