PrimeWord is a simple, RISC OS compliant wordprocessor designed to be configurable for use by a wide range of users with differing levels of ability. Documents are rendered using the Acorn outline font system to give a great deal of flexibility in presentation. Any of a wide range of easily available fonts may be used at almost any point size. Pictures in the form of sprites and Draw files may also be incorporated into documents so that work may easily be illustrated.

PrimeWord is capable of operating on several different documents at once and allows several views of each document being edited. This makes cross-referencing easy and simplifies moving text from one document to another. Document layout is controlled using easily-understood rulers which are manipulated using the mouse in an intuitive user interface. Frequently used commands and features are accessed directly from a 'button bar.' This is displayed at the top of the text window and gives access to a user-selectable range of functions without the need to negotiate the menu tree.

Printing is carried out using standard RISC OS printer drivers and these support a large, and increasing, number of different printers including many colour printers. Although very simple to use, PrimeWord is capable of producing a very high quality result and PostScript printer drivers may be used to enable the finished work to be reproduced by a professional typesetting bureau, allowing publication quality material to be produced if desired.

PrimeWord has a spelling checker and dictionary of over 50,000 words. This spelling checker allows documents to be checked as you type or you may spell check an entire document when it is completed.
