Who are Hospice Northeast Volunteers?
Volunteers are the heart of the Hospice Northeast program.
Hospice Northeast volunteers include men and women who are 18 years of
age and older who come from all walks of life. Every volunteer brings caring
people who wish to serve their community by providing support and companionship
to Hospice Northeast patients and families, promoting community awareness,
assisting with special events and providing clerical support.

for You!
Hospice volunteers can choose the type of work they would
like to do:
- Patient Family Care - Volunteers work directly with patients
and their families, offering support and encouragement., Services can include,
but are not limited to the following:
- Being a good listener
- Reading to the patient
- Running errands
- Barbering and hair styling
- Providing emotional support
- Preparing a simple meal
- Providing transportation
- Offering "time-out" for caregivers
- Administrative Support - Volunteers provide valuable clerical
and administrative support to hospice staff. Tasks include: filing, data
entry, bulk mailings and receptionist assistance.
- Community Awareness - Hospice volunteers
are an integral part of Hospice Northeast and provide insight and information
to the community about hospice programs, services and volunteer opportunities.
- Speakers Bureau - Hospice Northeast professionals, trained
hospice volunteers, Esprit de Corps board members and Women's Auxiliary members
offer interesting
presentations to general audiences, healthcare professionals, and to civic,
business and social service groups.
- Exhibits - Volunteers help staff special projects such
as health fairs and fundraising events and are available to answer questions
and share the services of Hospice Northeast with others.
- Women's Auxiliary of Hospice Northeast - Auxiliary members
prepare beautiful, personalized care baskets and plan an annual Tree of
Life Celebration during the holiday season to benefit Hospice Northeast
patients and families.
- Esprit de Corps - Esprit De Corps is a volunteer membership
organization which includes more than 1,200 professionals. Members work
together with corporate sponsors throughout the community to plan and organize
unique theme parties, after work socials and black-tie galas to benefit
patients and families served by Hospice Northeast.
