Daimler-Benz Environmental Report
Environmental Running Costs Increase by 20 Percent
Last year, the Daimler-Benz Group spent almost DM 1 billion on environmental protection. The figure includes both investments and the running costs associated with environmental protection measures. When the similar figure for environmental protection expenditure on research and development work is also taken into account, the total expenditure on environmental protection fell just short of DM 2 billion.

Impact of the D-Mark's Strength
D-Mark Exchange Rate Puts Strain on Daimler-Benz Results
Despite the positive operating performance of Mercedes-Benz, the Daimler-Benz Group is suffering as a result of the D-Mark's strength against the US Dollar and other key European currencies. The direct impact of the exchange rate can only be partially compensated for by further operational improvements and cost reductions.

AeroSail Qualify for Admiral's Cup
In a qualifying competition in Keel, which was exciting through to the last race, Jochen Schümann and his AeroSail crew in "Anemos" succeeded in qualifying for the ILC 40 (medium boat size) category of the Admiral's Cup.

Daimler-Benz Streamlines Structures at Group Headquarters
The Daimler-Benz AG Board of Management has decided to make Group headquarters leaner and more efficient. It is thereby continuing a process initiated in 1993, which is aimed at introducing leaner hierarchical structures and shorter reporting channels at the nerve center of the Daimler-Benz Group.

Daimler-Benz Takes to the Waves at the Kiel Week
Honoring tradition: Daimler-Benz is once more demonstrating its commitment to sailing. Continuing a partnership that goes back to 1988, the company will also be represented at this year's - the 101st - Kiel Week event. The central point of interest this time around is the Group sailing project "AeroSail," in which all four corporate units are represented.
