1934 - 1938. The Silver Arrow era.

1934. The Silver Arrow is born.
In 1934, a new racing formula led to Daimler-Benz developing a completely new car known as the W 25.
On the eve of the international ADAC Eifel Race in June 1934, the hotly awaited W 25 was officially weighed - and turned out to be one kilogram over the maximum weight allowed under the regulations.
At the last minute someone had a brilliant idea: over night, the paintwork of the cars was sanded down to expose the bare aluminium. Thus the Silver Arrows were born and the next day saw the first in a matchless series of wins.

1937. The Silver Arrows are unstoppable.
The improved Silver Arrow model, the W125, was similar in its streamlined looks to its predecessor. The engine however now delivered 646 hp. It was the winner of its very first race, the Tripoli Grand Prix, with Hermann Lang at the wheel.

1938. The unbeaten record.
On January 28, Rudolf Caracciola set a new class record in a 12-cylinder car with special enclosed streamlined body. It set a top speed of 436.9 km/h during a one-kilometre run in one direction with a flying start. This is the highest speed ever driven on an ordinary road.
