Research and Technology

At group level, Daimler-Benz carries out application-oriented research, supports technology transfer within the group and contributes its technological competence to strategic decisions.

The research sectors F1, F2, F3 and F4 work specifically for the corporate units Mercedes-Benz, AEG Daimler-Benz Industrie, Daimler-Benz Aerospace and debis. The accent here is on research topics related to the products and business of the corporate units. The interdisciplinary research activities on the other hand, for example in the fields of traffic, materials, microelectronics and microsystems, informatics, production the environment and the relationship between research, technology and society are oriented primarily to group-wide research topics. Group-level research is carried out at locations in Berlin, Frankfurt, Friedrichshafen, Munich, Stuttgart, Ulm and Palo Alto (California).

The Technology Division of the group is responsible for technology and information management and for assisting the technological integration and strategic orientation of the group.
