This server offers access to around 16,000 images (NOT available elsewhere) - i.e. some 1.6Gb of data - all concerned in some way with the history of art and architecture. The contents are tabled below. Work is in progress on ways of storing, displaying and dispatching to users much higher-quality images than the 740x540 (approx) pixel images currently on offer. Please email me with comments or suggestions!
You may view a shortened version of the access statistics for this site. Current accesses run at some 30,000 per day.

From here you may also visit Art & Museums, theWeb Museum, the EXPO Ticket Office, ROMARCH - a resource for the art and archaeology of ancient Italy and the provinces of Rome, the Archivio Magna Graecia, a site dealing with Egyptian Archaeology, a collection of architectural links on the Web, and Exploring Ancient World Cultures, an introduction to ancient cultures made out of existing internet resources.
You may wish to read about the technologies currently employed for capturing, processing and storing the images and the various datafiles, and about the associated drawbacks. These are currently being updated following the purchase of a Nikon digital camera (1.2mp images), and a Sony device which will offer 1.6mp images. These "giants" will soon be made available for testing via a Web client interface.
