MV Greenpeace Amazonian Expedition
During October 1994, the environmental ship MV Greenpeace made
an expedition from the mouth of the Amazon up to the Rio Negro and
thence back down to the Atlantic Ocean. This trip was part of a
long campaign for the forests which took the ship from Siberia to British
Columbia to Central America to Brazil. The purpose of the
journey was to publisise some of the many threats to the future of the
forests in these areas.
While in Brazil, the activities of the MV Greenpeace included
public outreach and non-violent direct actions to highlight
the following issues.
