MV Greenpeace Amazonian Expedition

MV Greenpeace During October 1994, the environmental ship MV Greenpeace made an expedition from the mouth of the Amazon up to the Rio Negro and thence back down to the Atlantic Ocean. This trip was part of a long campaign for the forests which took the ship from Siberia to British Columbia to Central America to Brazil. The purpose of the journey was to publisise some of the many threats to the future of the forests in these areas.

While in Brazil, the activities of the MV Greenpeace included public outreach and non-violent direct actions to highlight the following issues.
