Greenpeace launches international campaign to prevent tests

Stop Press: Some 22 Greenpeace activists, VIPs American Congressman Eni Faleomavaega and two leading Tahitian activists, Oscar Temaru and Vito Maamaatua, and journalists from the Rainbow Warrior and MV Greenpeace have just landed at the Tahitian airport via a French military plane. The journalists and VIPs are expected to be released while Greenpeace activists are being held for questioning. It is not clear if French authorities will charge the activists for attempting to land on Moruroa atoll to prevent the first of France's nuclear weapons test there or if they will be deported to other countries.
