Daimler-Benz to Double
Recruitment of
University Graduates

Stuttgart, April 6, 1995
The Daimler-Benz Group wants to recruit twice as many university graduates this year as it did in 1994. Human resources planning in both the Daimler-Benz holding company and the corporate units of Mercedes-Benz, AEG Daimler-Benz Industrie, Daimler-Benz Aerospace and Daimler-Benz Interservices is envisaging taking on around 1,000 new staff. This was the news announced to senior executives by Gerd Woriescheck, who heads staff development of senior executives in the Daimler-Benz Group, at a discussion group organized at the Hannover Trade Fair on Thursday, April 6, 1995.

Woriescheck: "Despite the still somewhat tight employment situation at individual Group locations, we believe it is necessary to take this step in order to secure the next generation of talented staff. We are also pleased to be able to make a contribution to improving work prospects for university graduates through substantially increasing the number of our new recruits." According to Woriescheck, during the course of the year the Daimler-Benz Group wants to offer more direct entrance opportunities for students of virtually all current academic disciplines, particularly the engineering and economic sciences. In addition, the company is sticking unreservedly, as in previous years, to the policy of creating job opportunities by means of special training programs.

In 1994, 300 university graduates were taken on for an unlimited period. These were joined - as part of a short-term employment initiative set up by the board of management to relieve the difficult labor situation for young academics - by a further 200 recruits. The latter where offered temporary contracts drawn up largely on the basis of practical year or part-time models. According to Woriescheck, up to now, the company's experience with these models has generally been very good.
