From time to time Be releases minor software updates and makes them available for downloading. This page describes and makes available an update to the mail_daemon.

This software update was released on November 11, 1996.


Description

This version of the mail_daemon fixes a particular problem with mail.
Addresses that looked like:

"Robert Polic" <foo@be.com>

were not being handled correctly. This update fixes this particular problem.

Who Needs This Update

You need this update only if you are running BeOS DR8.2 on a BeBox. Users running the BeOS on a PowerMac do not need this update.

Getting the Update

The update to mail_daemon is available from the Be ftp site:

Installing the Update

  1. Download the file to your BeBox by clicking the above link.
  2. Decompress the file (it will be named mail_daemon).
  3. Move the old mail_daemon from the /system folder to the Trash.
  4. Place the updated mail_daemon in your /system folder.
  5. Reboot your BeBox.
