"Do I smell home cooking?! It's only the river! It's only the river!"
TIP: You'll get best results if you browse eyePAGES with Netscape, with inline images ON and a wide screen. Netscape speeds things up and lets you scroll around a page while large images arrives, so you can check out the text, etc.
You'll note some visuals are far from photographic quality -- the stuff you'll see in hard copy. This is deliberate. We have a different eyeball-to-image ratio operating in this medium. When sitting down with the ink and paper version, it takes your eyes a split second to scan a large image, whereas here, to get an image that may not end up interesting you, you have to sit maybe 60 seconds or more. eye's of the opinion that sitting, staring bovine-like, at the magic Mosaic hourglass is hardly raw fun on the infobahn.
So... if an image is merely an enhancement to a story, we'll try to keep it relatively byte-small, no more than 20k, often much less; but if the image is the whole point (as in eyeDentical Twins), we'll throw caution to the wind and will rise to the necessary resolution.
One last word on images: All images in eyePAGES cannot automatically be assumed available for free circulation in cyberspace. Whereas we encourage the spread of the text articles (please keep header and .sig intact), some of the images herein are most definitely copyrighted by other parties. If you wanna rip off some MGM-owned image and get crucified by .45-calibre lawyers, have fun -- we'll simply wash our hands of you and skulk off t'get buzzed with Pilate. ;-)
But... in the MEANTIME!
