The Department of Art at the University of Delaware seeks applicants in the following categories for financial aid awards in support of study towards the MFA degree in painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, or ceramics.
These President's Fellowships are awarded to Black (American), Hispanic (American), and Native American students on nomination by the department. The awards have an annual value in excess of $20,000 in tuition and stipend. Qualified applicants will be brought to campus at the University's expense during the spring semester for a visit with faculty and students.
Identical in value to the President's Fellowships, these Competitive Fellowships are awarded to students who are successful in being nominated by various departments throughout the University. Artists with significant professional recognition and outstanding undergraduate records have the best chance for these awards.
These awards can vary in value from over $10,000 to $20,000 annually in tuition and stipend. They are made in exchange for professional services such as teaching, studio maintenance, or both.
Currently these scholarships have an annual value ranging from more than $5,000 to more than $10,000 and may cover either partial or full tuition. Some awards may be designated as tuition assistants and in those cases an amount of work might be required.
The above deadline refers to the initial screening process. Applications for admission and awards can still be acted upon after this date, but early responses have the best chance for funding. Applicants wishing to be considered for any of these opportunities are urged to send one plastic sleeve of slides, resume, letter stating the award(s) to which you are applying, and SASE for return of materials: Professor Larry Homes, Department of Art, University of Delaware, Newark, DE, 19716.
