The Internet Association of the Carolinas will sponsor the Internet Forum, June 12-13, 1995. The Forum, which will be held at the Raleigh Civic & Convention Center, kicks off a week dedicated to computer and electronic information technology. The Internet Forum is followed on June 14-15, 1995 by COMTEXPO '95 "the Computer Technology Expo".

The Internet Forum, directed by members and member companies of the Internet Association of the Carolinas will consist of four tracks of activities:


Track 1 - "Understanding the Internet"

"Understanding the Internet" is a half-day seminar and is designed for individuals and companies who are considering or just getting on the Internet, but who want more information before proceeding. Topics of discussion include individual, educational, entertainment, family, and cultural values, plus Internet access basics, costs, security issues, and case studies of individuals and companies who considered all of these issues when making their decisions to access the Internet. This seminar will be presented twice (8:00 AM - 12:00 PM on June 12 & 13. The cost is $95 for non-IAC members and $75 for IAC members.


Track 2 - "Business Development on the Net"

"Business Development on the Net" is a half-day seminar and is designed for companies and businesses who want to go one step farther on the Internet. Topics of discussion include capital requirements and operating budgets, equipment costs, talent, and personnel requirements, business on the Internet, Internet security, and options such as SLIP, PPP, ISDN, 56Kpbs, T-1, T-3, and wireless access. This seminar will be presented twice (1:00 PM - 5:00 PM on June 12 & 13. The cost is $95 for non-IAC members and $75 for IAC members.


Track 3 - "Internet Labs"

"Internet Labs" are half-day labs of actual hands-on experience. Lab registrants will have use of their own computer workstation connected directly to the Internet. Topics include terminology, business use of the Internet, Mosaic, Netscape, email, FTP, Telnet, and etc.

Tracks 1, 2, and 3 of the Internet Forum are designed so that any one track may be taken alone or in any combination with the other tracks.


Track 4 - "Webmaster Forum"

The "Webmaster Forum" makes its debut at this Internet Forum. This is a high-level, two-day forum for those interested in creating their own World Wide Web pages. Attendees wll learn about integration with LANs/ WANs, UNIX integration with other platforms, HTML, authoring tools, establishing a Web Site server, firewalls, security, commercial Web page design including forms design and program- ming, and Internet publishing. Become a Web consultant. Attend the Webmaster Forum. The cost is $695 for non-IAC members, and $595 for IAC members.

K Computing of Cary, NC will conduct the Webmaster Forum and has given us a tentative course outline.
