THE ESSENTIAL DIFFERENCE

Moving to the Silicon Graphics platform did something else for Herbert, perhaps the most important thing. "I certainly felt the increase in interactivity and speed, but the interesting thing is that I felt differently while I was working, and when I met with clients. It was a new sort of confidence, you might say. I knew I was working with the best technology and it made me feel good about my job. It made a world of difference. The level of clientele changed, and the price of the projects went up radically."

Today Herbert's clients are advertising agency art directors and creative directors. "With Indigo2, it's easy, in fact desirable, for me to bring clients to the studio and show the work on screen," he says. "With the recent addition of Barco Creator to the studio arsenal, I'm in absolute pig heaven. It enables me to work with very large files in real-time."

"The other day I had a client here and wanted to show them something quickly. I touched the icon of a 75 megabyte image, and it popped onto the screen in an instant. Then I said, 'Now, watch this,' and I cut out a 45 megabyte chunk of that file and opened up a nice size air brush and I painted in real-time on the 45 megabyte image. You can't do that with any other system. That's Barco and Indigo2 working together."

And that, we'd like to add, is Silicon Studio for Publishing, combined with the imagination, skill and hard work of Jonathan Herbert.
