Mail Forwarding
Most Demon Internet users tend to have electronic mail addresses that look like sarah@sample.demon.co.uk, but many businesses prefer a more customised type of address, allowing their staff to have addresses that clearly identify the name of the company or organisation - for example sarah@sample-company.co.uk.
Demon Internet provide this facility with the Mail Forwarding service, which also allows users to send mail around an internal network for delivery on individual computers. This service costs an additional fee of £200 (+ VAT) per annum regardless of the amount ot email sent or received.
Web Space
Demon Internet provides World Wide Web services for Internet users and companies that want to make information available via this rapidly expanding publishing medium.
To give yourself a presence on the World Wide Web, you can rent space on Demon Internet's Web Server, which is one of the most popular sites in Europe. You'll be able to update pages yourself as often as you wish and receive weekly statistics telling you who accesses the information and how often.

Web Forwarding
When you rent space from Demon Internet, your pages will usually have a reference like http://www.demon.co.uk/sample/. By choosing Demon Internet's Web Forwarding option, it's possible to ensure that the name of your company, rather than Demon Internet, appears in the reference to your Web pages, as in http://www.sample-company.co.uk, giving a more professional appearance to those who access your information.

The exact hardware that you will need to connect to the Internet depends on the software you choose, but the most common is a Windows compatible computer, with at least 5Mb free hard disk space and if you intend to run a graphical Web browser, 8Mb of RAM is recommended or an Apple Macintosh computer with a hard disk. The Demon Internet service is compatible with most types of computer. A modem, with a minimum suggested speed of 9600 bits per second (V32), is required to connect your computer to your phone line.
You will also require Internet access software. This is readily available from a range of different suppliers. Demon Internet's own programs provide access for users of PC compatible computers and can be sent to you on floppy disk, for a small copying charge, while a range of programs for other systems can be transferred from Demon Internet using a standard communications program. Similarly, modems are widely available from a range of suppliers can also be ordered from Demon Internet at the same time as you sign up for your Internet access. Demon Internet's service is compatible with modems at speeds up to the latest V34 standard.

How to order
To order your connection fron Demon Internet, please print out and complete the order form (20K GIF-format image). You can also telephone 0181-371 1234 or email sales@demon.net. If you just require standard Internet access, you only need to complete parts 1,2,3 and 6. You need to choose a name for your computer and it should be between four and eight characters long. You should give three choices, in case either of your first two has already been used.

For Mail Forwarding and Web Forwarding, you will need to supply the name that you would like to use for your company or organisation. If you require assistance, please contact the Sales Department (telephone 0181-371 1234 or email sales@demon.net).
If you wish to download software for your computer, you should contact the Sales Department and ask for the daily 'guest' password, which will enable you to call the Demon Internet computer with an ordinary communications program and transfer software to your computer. Set your communications program to 8 bits, no parity and 1 stop bit (8-N-1), dial 0181-338 4848 with the modem, and follow the instructions on screen
When your account has been set up, you should call the Demon Internet computer system and enter the name of your computer when you are asked to login. You will then be asked to choose a password and your Internet Address will be displayed. You should remember both your password and Internet Address, as they will be needed to configure your Internet access software to work with Demon Internet.
Paying by cheque?
Cheques should be made payable to Demon Internet Ltd. All payments are due in advance of using any service. Monthly account applications paying by cheque must send 12 cheques: one cheque for the joining fee/first month for £26.43 (inc VAT) and 11 post dated cheques for £11.75 (inc VAT) each and these must be dated the first of each month. Your account will be set up and ready for use within 24 hours.
