Keeping your distance from a nasty outbreak of the national disease

IT IS not only on motorways that the "national driving disease" is rife. Travelling too close to the vehicle in front, at any speed, is a highly dangerous habit, practised by far too many drivers. Even at 10mph in a slow traffic crawl, it is asking for trouble; you must keep your distance. This applies also when stopping behind another vehicle in a queue: always leave one car's length in front of you, so that you can see both "tarmac and tyres".more
