Sinn Fein deal ends the long deadlock
AFTER weeks of stalemate in the Northern Ireland peace process, the Government said last night that it was ready to talk to Sinn Fein at ministerial level for the first time since the IRA ceasefire nearly eight months ago.
Parents sue for £50,000 over killing of daughter
THE parents of a teenage girl who was killed on a piece of wasteland began unique legal proceedings yesterday against the man who was acquitted of her murder.
Joe Duffy, 44, and his wife Kate, 40, are suing Francis Auld for £50,000 for the loss of their daughter. A jury found the murder charge against him not proven, a decision that has prompted calls for this third verdict in Scots law to be abolished.
Abbey National seeks £1bn takeover of N+P
