Dials & Speedometer
The red needles and white numbers of Volvo instrument dials have been created for the best visibility under all driving conditions. Volvo dials also pivot from the bottom in the traditional, automotive design. The Volvo speedometer is large and easy to read. The information it displays is provided electronically, from a rear-axle sensor that sends signals to the speedometer. Replacing conventional speedometer cables with electronic sensing systems eliminates cable noise and wear, and allows us to use the sensor data in ways which enhance both engine efficiency and driving safety.
Night Driving
Volvo dashboard instruments are covered with an angled glare-free screen that reduces reflection from sunlight during the day. Instrument lighting is indirect and designed to reduce eye fatigue for long-distance driving. Instrument dials and numbers are in colors that provide excellent visibility after dark.
Signal & Wiper Levers
Many operating functions are grouped together on the turn signal and windshield wiper operating levers, where they're easy to reach without taking your hands from the wheel. These functions include high-beam headlight control, wiper/washer control, cruise control, and a rear-window wiper/washer control on Volvo wagons.
