Choosing CD-ROM or floppy disk version
If you have a CD-ROM drive, get the CD-ROM version of Windows 95. Installation will be faster, plus the CD-ROM comes with an excellent tutorial.
Make sure your PC is virus-free
We recommend you run an antivirus program before installing Windows 95.
Shut down all utilities before installing Windows 95
Shut down all utility progams that appear on your screen automatically, including all virus testers, screen savers, memory managers, shells, and so on.
Back up all your business or personal files
It's always a good idea to back up your data before installing a new operating system!
Installing Windows 95
To install Windows 95
(If necessary, replace "a" with the letter of your disk drive.)
If you are setting up from the CD-ROM drive, type: b:\setup.
(If necessary, replace "b" with the letter of your CD-ROM drive.)
Click the Start button
When you are up and running, click the Start button to access all your programs and documents. You’ll find that it won’t take long to get familiar with Windows 95. In fact, our usability tests have shown that after taking the tutorial and using the product for about 20 minutes, you’ll be just as productive as you were with Windows 3.1.
