The first general meeting of the Society was held in Perth, Western Australia, on the 17 August, 1973.

Membership

• Membership is open to all those interested in plant systematics.
• Membership entitles the member to attend general meetings and chapter meetings, and to receive the Newsletter.
• Any person may apply for membership by filling in an "Membership Application" form and forwarding it, with the appropriate subscription, to the Treasurer.
• Subscriptions become due on January 1 each year.
• ASBS annual membership is $35 (Aust); full-time students $15. Please make cheques out to ASBS Inc., and remit to the Treasurer.
• All changes of address should be sent to the Membership Secretary.

The ASBS Newsletter

• The Newsletter appearing quarterly since 1974, keeps members informed of Society events and news, and provides a vehicle for debate and discussion. In addition, original articles, notes and letters are considered.

• The ASBS has produced several publications. These can be ordered from the Society.
