What is ISDN?

ISDN is a digital dialup system which supports higher speeds with less errors than traditional analog dialup lines. Since it operates at higher speeds, it can also be used in place of Frame Relay and Private lines for low to medium speed commercial dedicated use.

ISDN comes in as a single line using a RJ45 jack. A BRI circuit can consist of a 1B+D (64k + 16k) or 2B+D (2x64k + 16k). The B channels may be used for digital data calls such as to IONet or an analog call using a regular telephone or modem. Some equipment supports placing calls with both B channels (BONDING) for 128k throughput for a total of 512k if compression is also supported.

BRI client equipment can take two forms, one is a router requiring an ethernet card in the pc, the other looks like a modem and connected via a serial card. The router equipment is typically used when supporting multiple pc's or when using access speeds above that supported by serial interfaces. The modem style equipment is typically used when only a single pc is accessing the line and using standard winsock type software and modem AT command set.

Dedicated rates

1B (64k) dedicated dialup: $295/month, $295 install
2B (128k) dedicated dialup: $395/month, $295 install
2B compressed (512k) dedicated: $695/month, $295 install

All circuit orders will be placed and provisioned by IONet. IOnet is currently certifying client equipment and will only support such equipment. Install waivers do not apply to ISDN service.

SWBT's Rates:

Inside the metro areas, OKC and Tulsa

Call For Current Pricing

Outside the Metro areas

Availabilty will need to be determined on a per order basis. This service also will allow local calls into the servicing area, i.e. if you call from a BRI in Enid with either a data call or a voice call over the BRI into OKC, there is no long distance charge. This would not apply if calling from Enid to Tulsa.

SWBT install times are typically 2-3 weeks from order placement. ISDN service is only available to customers within 18,000 feet of a supporting POP so SWBT must first confirm they can provide the service to the individual customer. Since ISDN has some rather complicated provisioning options, IONet will place all orders and provisioning for ISDN service and the customer will be billed directly by SWBT.
