IXI was founded in 1987 by Raymond Anderson with headquarters in Cambridge, England.
A North American base was established in 1991 and is headquartered in Santa Cruz, California with a satellite office in Minneapolis. IXI Corporation sells direct to Fortune 500 companies and addresses Federal business by working with highly qualified VARs and System Integrators.
IXI Japan is a joint venture between IXI Limited and IXI's long standing Japanese partner, Tomen Electronics Corp. From its offices in Tokyo, IXI Japan concentrates on the localization of the product, sales, marketing and customer support.
In February 1993, the company was acquired by the Santa Cruz Operation.
In December 1994 SCO also acquired Visionware (see the Visionware US and Visionware UK World-Wide Web servers), so providing customers with immediate access to a range of products designed to make Windows PCs integrate intelligently with UNIX servers. In February 1995 IXI and Visionware combined as a product division within SCO, under the management of Anderson.
