A large number of useful items of equipment both outside and inside the vehicle make travelling in the new E-class saloons even more pleasant and relaxing, especially for the driver. Here is a small selection: With the infrared locking system, the vehicle can be locked and unlocked conveniently using the remote control unit. Like the electronic immobiliser, this too is standard equipment. In order to prevent misting or freezing, the exterior mirrors are heated. And of course electrically adjustable. The washer nozzles are also heated as standard. The intermittent windscreen wiper setting has two speeds and is adjusted automatically to the speed of the vehicle. Available optionally is a rain sensor which controls the speed of the wiper blades according to how heavy the rainfall or how wet the windscreen is, automatically selecting the most appropriate interval. The optionally available air conditioning with integrated dust filter and recirculating air switch keeps the temperature within the car constant irrespective of the temperature outside. The temperature can be set separately for the driver's and front passenger's sides. The new E-class features electric side windows all round. All that is required in order to open the window fully is to depress the button beyond a defined pressure point. Orthopaedically designed seats provide a high level of comfort in both the front and the rear and ensure firm lateral support. The front seats are both adjustable for height and rake as standard. Multi-contoured seats are available optionally, and can be adjusted to the occupant's individual orthopaedic requirements. Fitted as standard are two pneumatically folding head restraints in the rear, which can be folded away when not in use. This allows you a better view of the traffic to the rear.
