Triceratops

Three prominent horns are the trademark of Triceratops, one of the best-known ceratopsian dinosaurs.

Ceratopsians, or horned dinosaurs, were among the last dinosaur groups to evolve. Large and powerful, they may have ranged in herd across the North American interior. Their great variety of horns and neck frills may have protected them from predators but may also have been used to threaten rivals of their own species.

Triceratops, named for the three horns on its skull, was the last and largest of the horned dinosaurs. Its massive head made up almost 1/3 of its length. It was a plant-eater and seems to have roamed in herds across Alberta, although no complete specimens have been found.
