What's New and What's to Come in winWeb

This version of TradeWave winWeb (release 1.1E) is for evaluation only (the restricted link count bug has been fixed!). This is an interim release, provided as winWeb makes the transition from freeware tool to commercial product.

The evaluation period will last until TradeWave releases winWeb commercially in the fourth quarter of 1995. Some of the new features associated with the next release include:

winWeb also is available via anonymous FTP to the host named ftp.einet.net. When you connect to this host, cd to the directory named /einet/pc/winweb and, using FTP's binary mode, get the following file:

System Requirements

To use winWeb, your system needs the following:

For network access, winWeb also requires an installed TCP/IP stack with a Windows Socket Library (WINSOCK.DLL), version 1.1 or greater.

Note: Additional RAM and hard disk space, if available, is used for caching and improves performance.

Installation

winWeb 1.1E is distributed as a self-extracting archive file named ww11eval.exe. To install winWeb, follow these steps:

  1. Place the self extracting archive file, ww11eval.exe, into a temporary directory.
  2. From File Manager or Program Manager, "run" ww11eval.exe.
  3. Follow the instructions from the installation procedure.
  4. Run winweb.exe.

The files and directories in this release are:

winWeb automatically creates a default WINWEB.INI file.

winWeb Legal Information

The TradeWave winWeb Version 1.1E software is copyrighted and licensed. TradeWave provides the software and licenses its use as set forth in the winWeb License. All users of the winWeb software must read and comply with the terms of this License.

winWeb License

The TradeWave winWeb software, both the binary executable and the source code (hereafter, Software), is copyrighted and licensed. TradeWave Corporation (TradeWave) provides the Software and licenses its use as set forth herein. The Software is, and at all times shall remain, the property of TradeWave, and Licensee shall have no right, title or interest therein except as expressly set forth in this agreement. Source code, if made available, will be licensed separately.

TradeWave grants you, the Licensee, a license to use the evaluation version of the TradeWave winWeb browser program (Product). Hereunder, the Licensee shall have only a nontransferable right to use the Product at a single location, on a single computer, by a single operator at a time, for the purpose of evaluating whether the Licensee wants to purchase a commercial license for the Product from TradeWave.

Licensee may electronically download a single copy of the Product per instructions from TradeWave. The Product is and shall remain at all times the property of TradeWave, and the Licensee shall not have any right, title, or interest therein except as expressly set forth in this Agreement.

The Licensee acknowledges that the Product is the proprietary property of TradeWave. The Licensee shall protect TradeWave's proprietary rights by taking steps necessary to prevent disclosure of the Product, including any associated documentation or other materials, to any other person, firm, or corporation. The Licensee also shall restrict access to the Product, including any associated documentation or other materials, to any other person, firm, or corporation. The Licensee shall not copy or reproduce the Product or any associated documentation or other materials for comparison or any purpose whatsoever.

No rights or licenses under patents, trademarks, copyrights, or other intellectual or proprietary rights are granted or implied by this Agreement, except for the limited, nontransferable right to use the Product as and for the purpose expressly stated herein, and nothing herein contained shall be deemed to limit or restrict the right of TradeWave to assert claims for infringement thereof against the Licensee or any others.

TRADEWAVE MAKES NO REPRESENTATIONS OR WARRANTIES WITH RESPECT TO THE PRODUCT, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, IN FACT OR IN LAW, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. THE LICENSEE AGREES THAT THE USE PERMITTED HEREUNDER IS FOR EVALUATION PURPOSES ONLY AND TRADEWAVE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY LOST PROFITS, OR FOR INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, OR ANY CLAIM OR DEMAND AGAINST THE LICENSEE OR ANY OTHERS, EVEN IF TRADEWAVE HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. TRADEWAVE WILL NOT SUPPORT THE EVALUATION VERSION OF THE PRODUCT. TRADEWAVE IS NOT OBLIGATED TO ISSUE UPDATES TO THE EVALUATION VERSION OF THE PRODUCT.

THIS AGREEMENT SHALL BE GOVERNED AND CONSTRUED AND INTERPRETED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF TEXAS.



The TradeWave winWeb software was initially developed at the Microelectronics and Computer Technology Corporation (MCC) by the Enterprise Integration Network Group, now the TradeWave Corporation.
