- Right click the My Computer icon in the upper left hand corner of the screen. Click the word Properties that appears on the screen. Across the top of the window are four tabs: General, Device Manager, Hardware Profiles, and Performance. Click the Device Manager tab to view information about the computer.
- Locate the Hard Disk Controller in the list of devices displayed on the screen. Click once on Standard IDE/ESDI Hard Disk Controller to highlight it.
- Click the Remove button in the lower right hand side of the System Properties window. Click the OK button to confirm that you wish to remove this device.
If there is more than one Standard IDE/ESDI Hard Disk Controller listed, click the NO button when asked to restart Windows. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until all the "Standard IDE/..." settings are removed before continuing.
Once all the "Standard IDE/ESDI..." settings are removed, click the Yes button when asked to restart the computer.- The system now reboots to remove the Splats and activate the Bus Master drivers.
