This online ordering thing is a huge rush. Who would've thought 10 years ago (heck, 5 years ago!) that you'd be able to order nearly anything on the Internet? Unfortunately, with all the choices out there it can be complicated to figure out exactly how to do such a thing. Well, here are some guidelines to follow at gw2k.com.First, you need to pick out your favorite Gateway PC. This can be done several ways. If you'd like to see all we have to offer at once, the Build Your Own Gateway PCSM page is for you. Otherwise, if you know what type of PC you're most interested in, we've got several pages broken down into PC categories. You can choose from our DestinationTM Big Screen PCs, our Professional Systems, our ever-popular Family PCTM systems, and last, but certainly not least, our Portables. These links will take you to a page listing the breakdown of each of these categories where you can easily see the options available.
The next step (and the most fun) is to configure your Gateway PC the way you want it. You can do this by selecting from the drop down boxes available on every system we sell. For an example, take a look at our G6-200XL PC system. Notice that you can pick and choose between a variety of different options to meet your computing needs. Once you've got a PC (or PCs -- the default quantity is set to 1) "made your way", just scroll down to the bottom of the page and choose the button marked Configure Price.
This next screen allows you to double check your configuration. If you've added or subtracted any items from the standard PC on the previous screen, they will show up here with their dollar amount so you can be sure you've gotten exactly the PC you want. As you scroll down the page, notice that we've listed the Base Price, which is the price of the standard configuration, and the Configured Price, which is the price with your added and/or subtracted components. We've also shown you the Quantity, Total Price (minus tax and shipping) and the Date and Time this page was accessed. If everything is correct, continue to scroll to the two radio buttons underneath the bright red phone numbers. To buy this configuration online, choose the radio button marked "I would like to order this system via the World Wide Web" and click the Continue button.
You're now at a standard order form that requires you to fill out your shipping information, billing information (if different) and credit card information. Any field shown in bold is a required field, and you cannot proceed without the appropriate information. Notice that after the billing information there's a section entitled "Best Time to Call". The default for this drop down box is NOW!, which means a salesperson will call you within the next hour to confirm your order. If you'd rather wait until later, morning, afternoon and evening options are also available. Your credit card information is optional; for your convenience, you can choose to have a salesperson call you for this information; otherwise, select an alternate method of payment from the available options. After you've answered the last few questions, you're ready to go on. Just click the Purchase button to continue to the next page.
Now you should be looking at a Thank You page. Your order was completed successfully, and a salesperson should be contacting you at the time you requested. Also, be on the lookout for an e-mail specifying the Gateway 2000 PC configuration you decided on, and a call number for you to reference should you have any questions.
Now that wasn't so bad now, was it?
