BeOS Now!
The BeOS Preview Release is available now, and we know you want to know how to get it. Look no further, this page will tell you about all the different ways you can get the BeOS for PowerPC (the current shipping BeOS release will not run on Intel machines).
To accomplish our goal of proliferating the BeOS, we are beginning with extremely aggressive introductory pricing. The BeOS Preview Release will come in three forms but the actual CD is the same in each case:
- The BeOS Trial CD -- Freely bundled with magazines and other avenues. This includes the BeOS Preview Release CD and electronic documentation. This is a "1 + 0" product, which means that you receive only the BeOS release that comes on the CD (no free updates, excepting maintenance releases).
- The BeOS Trial Pack -- $9.95 in the US including US priority mail. This includes the BeOS Preview Release CD, a printed installation guide, and electronic documentation. This is a "1 + 0" product, which means that you receive only the BeOS release that comes on the CD (no free updates, excepting maintenance releases).
- The BeOS Full Package -- $49.95 in the US including US priority mail. This includes the BeOS Preview Release CD, a printed installation guide, electronic documentation, and the printed 200 page BeOS User's Guide. This is a "1 + 2" product, which means that you receive the BeOS release on the CD, plus the next two upgrades will be sent to you free (you just need to register your software).
The BeOS Preview Release is available to all comers in a variety of ways.
While you're waiting for your order to arrive, we've posted screenshots and features of the Preview Release for you to take a
look at. Be sure to check the Products section of
the web site for more information, as it's completely focused on the new Preview
Release.
If you'd like to stay even more up to date with happenings at Be, we encourage
you to sign up for the BeInfo mailing
list; it receives the Be Newsletter every week, along with press releases as we release them. Then check back with the Be web site every week or so; we're constantly adding new information to the site.
The Preview Release is being mailed to you the week of July 14, 1997:
- US and Pacific Rim countries
We will place your copies in the US Mail on July 16th. Most of you should receive the disks within a few days, but due to the vagaries of the postal system, your mileage may vary. Please be patient, and if you have not received your copy within 10 days (Saturday, July 26th) email us at custservice@be.com and let us know. (Those of you in Japan and Australia, please give us even more transit time.)
- Europe
In an effort to speed delivery in Europe, we will be sending the European Developer and BeBox owner copies by courier to our BeEurope office, to arrive there by 16 July. The BeEurope team will then place them in the mail in France. We feel this will result in better overall service. Again, if you have not received your copy by Saturday, 26 July, contact us at custservice@beeurope.com.
We will send BeBox owners a new copy of the boot ROM floppy along with their CDs. If you are a BeBox owner and your CD arrives without a Boot ROM floppy, contact us at custservice@be.com and we will correct the oversight.
