First Time Mosaic Users

Welcome to the amazing world of World Wide Web (WWW)! You can browse through thousands (or millions) of pages of information on the Internet. These pages were prepared by people of different professions all over the world. See below for a selected list of Web servers to visit. But, first, read on for a few important tips.

In your journey, you will encounter hyperlinks in the following forms, either an underlined or colored phrase, an icon, or a combination of both.

Click me or this icon

These hyperlinks will lead you to another page, either on the same machine, or on another machine somewhere in the world.

Some pages contain image files that can slow down the loading, or if you are browsing pages from great distances, do the following to reduce the loading time:

Microsoft Windows Users

  1. Uncheck the "Display Inline Images" option from the "Options" menu. The images will not be loaded, and an icon will act as a placeholder.
  2. If you found a page interesting and you want to see the images. Check the "Display Inline Images", then choose "Reload" from the "Navigate" menu.

Macintosh Users

  1. Uncheck the "Auto-Load Images" option from the "Options" menu. The images will not be loaded, and an icon will act as a placeholder.
  2. If you want to see the actual image, click on the placeholder.

X Window Users

  1. Uncheck the "Delay Image Loading" option from the "Options" menu. The images will not be loaded, and an icon will act as a placeholder.
  2. If you want to see the actual image, click on the placeholder.

You can return to the Farallon's Home Page by clicking on the Home icon at end of this page or click the back arrow icon above (below the menu) to go to the previous page. If you want to go straight to the General information Page or Technical Notes Page, click on their respective icons at end of this page.

If you visit another Web server and looked through a number of pages, and then have trouble getting back to Farallon, you can return to Farallon's Home Page by selecting "Open URL..." from the File Menu and enter Farallon's URL address: http://www.farallon.com. Depending on your platform, there are easier ways to get back to Farallon. Send e-mail to www@farallon.com for further instructions.
