American Triad Childrens Fund

Richard Satterfield began bicycling from Cape Flattery, WA on New Years Day, 1995 and is riding to Cape Horn, Argentina the southern tip of South America. This journey is approximatly 12,000 miles and is dedicated to Julie Einspahr and others like her. Julie is a 12 year old girl who is afflicted with Cerebral Palsy and Multiple-Seizure Disorders which are blamed on an adverse reaction to a diptheria-pertussis tetanus shot, which she received at the age of four months. Right now, Julie is in the hospital suffering from complications with special tubes that provide her with nutrition. We hope that she pulls through this difficult period.

Currently, Richard is being sponsored by such companies as Cannondale and Specialized Bicycles, Super 8 Motels and soon, Nike. Richard is fundraising in his home town of Santa Cruz until he raises enough money and bike components /tools to carry him through the entire journey. Richard is anxious to get back on the road, but without adequate funds, he cannot carry through with his promise to Julie and her family. If you can help finance Richard in any way possible, please call (408) 479-4953 for more information.

Richard's story will unfold in these next 9 months to 1 year on this home page. I will be updating these pages with current information about where he is in his travels, and also how much money is being collected for his non-profit effort, the American Triad Children's Fund. Richards dream is to make the American Triad Children's Fund a large organization that contributes the highest percentage of individual peoples donations to the children like Julie, and not to salaries of people _within_ the organizations.

We need your help! If there are people out there who want to build this organization and help to raise monies for disabled and disadvantaged children within the United States, as well as other countries througout the world, such as Children with AIDS, Cancer, Epilepsy, Muscular Dystrophy, etc... then please write to the one or both of the addresses below. Any donations must be sent to the Children's fund address only. You may also e-mail directly to wendy@sco.com if you would like any additional information.
