The NEXUS-Berkeley

We're going to build a community, and integrate it virtually and physically.

We're not going to let people think that interactions over the 'net lack anything that 'real life' interactions have because it will all be integrated-- our virtual community will be integrated with our "real" community.

We're going to have the power to selectively reveal ourselves.

A great asset of the net is the psuedo-anonymity which brings people together as it breaks down walls. We have to preserve that against the cries for full attachment of a True Name to your identity (or identities) on the net. We will have full privacy for every member, no information will be revealed without a member choosing to reveal it, privacy will be advocated and protected.

We're going to keep the net many-to-many.

The net is not a broadcast few-to-many medium. The paradigms of the past are not applicable. It's all about every *one* of us, not some faraway corporate sponsorship or marketing driven ad campaign. We're the community, we're the ones who matter.

So to accomplish this, Community ConneXion: The NEXUS-Berkeley, has been founded. In cooperation with similar projects around the world we are forming virtual spaces, virtual communities, real spaces, real communities.
