OBJECTIVE:

The Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center is an economic development initiative of the Virginia Tech Foundation in cooperation with Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. The CRC's mission is to build creative partnerships between Virginia Tech's world-class research program and private/public enterprises.

LOCATION:

The CRC is located in Blacksburg, Virginia, two miles from the center of the Virginia Tech campus and adjacent to Virginia Tech's 4,700 foot airport runway which has full instrument approach capabilities.

SIZE:

The CRC occupies 120 acres. Seven buildings are complete, consisting of over 180,000 gross square feet of space. A 40,000 gross square foot building is under construction.

BENEFITS:

Tenant employees at the CRC are entitled to many faculty privileges at Virginia Tech including use of facilities, and discounts on various athletic and cultural events. The CRC provides a complete tenant services program including use of conference rooms, equipment, INTERNET access and consulting support.

SITES:

The CRC has numerous sites that can be built-to-suit and leased on a long-term basis. The covenants of the CRC prohibit low- technology manufacturing operations in the park. Multi-tenant offices and laboratory suites in a range of sizes are also available.

UTILITIES:

Water, sewer, and gas are provided in accordance with a fully- developed master plan. Electricity is provided by the Virginia Tech Electric Service and telephone service by Virginia Tech Communications Network Services via fiber optic cable to all buildings.

STATUS:

Over 30 tenant companies, employing over 650 people, reside at the CRC.

SERVICES:

On-site banking facilities are available. Access to Virginia Tech's computing facilities and the Blacksburg Electronic Village are provided.
