1995 International Sherwood Fusion Theory Conference

General Information
The Sherwood Fusion Theory Conference is a meeting held annually in the
United States at which researchers in the theoretical and
computational aspects of magnetic fusion energy present and discuss
new results of
their work. Experts from outside the field are also invited to give
review talks on topics of interest to the community.
The conference is conducted in accordance with the International
Council of Scientific Unions guidelines on free circulation of
scientists.
The 1995 Conference, sponsored by Lawrence Livermore National
Laboratory and the American Physical Society, will be held in Incline
Village, Nevada on Monday through Wednesday, 3-5 April, 1995. All
technical sessions will be held in the conference hotel:
Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe, Country Club Dr. at Lakeshore, Incline
Village, NV.
Program Organization
A program of three review talks, several selected oral talks, and
contributed posters will be
organized into an agenda of three morning, one afternoon and one
evening session by the Program Committee, whose members are B. Braams,
P. Catto, R. Fitzpatrick, T. S. Hahm, R. G. Kleva, T. Kaiser and
R. Waltz, chair. Papers are solicited in the following general topic areas:
- Plasma Properties, Equilibrium, Stability and Transport
- Physics of Plasma Edge and Divertor Region
- Plasma Production and Heating
- Computer Simulations o f Plasmas
- Atomic, Molecular, Nuclear and Reactor Physics in MFE

Abstracts
Abstracts (one original and two copies) must fit on a single 8.5 x 11 inch
white page with a minimum one-inch border, suitable for direct
reproduction in the program book. Only one abstract per first author
is allowed for poster presentation. Authors wishing consideration for
oral presentation should so indicate on the lower right corner of
their abstracts. Authors requesting an oral presentation should also
indicate whether they wish to present the paper as a poster if it is
not selected for oral presentation. A 4 x 8 foot poster board and push
pins will be provided for each poster presentation.

Registration
The Sherwood Conference registration desk will be located at the Hyatt
Regency Lake Tahoe Hotel in the upper lobby. On-site registration hours will
be as follows:
Sun Apr 2, 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Mon Apr 3, 7:30 am - 5:00 pm
Tue Apr 4, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Wed Apr 5, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
Requests for registration materials by mail should be made to the
Conference Coordinator. The preregistration deadline is March 1,
1995. The registration fee is $115 U.S. before the deadline, $170
U.S. thereafter. Students may register for $15 U.S.
Refunds
Requests for refunds must be made in writing and postmarked on or
before March 17, 1995. No refund will be granted after that date.
Reception
There will be a reception with hors d'oeuvres and a no-host bar on Sunday,
April 2 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Hotel.
Companions Breakfast
A complimentary continental breakfast for companions will be held at
9:00 am on Monday, April 3 in the Hyatt Regency.
A representative of the hotel will give a
brief presentation on local attractions.
Hotel Accommodations
The conference hotel is the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe, Country Club
Dr. at Lakeshore, Incline Village, NV 89450-3239; telephone
702-832-1234; FAX 702-831-2171. The conference rate of $89 per night plus
9% tax, single or double occupancy, will be in effect from March 31 to
April 7, 1995. Reservation forms must be returned to the hotel by the
deadline date of Wednesday March 1, 1995, to insure a
room at the conference rate. Reservations may be made by mail or phone
and must be accompanied by credit card information to guarantee for
late arrival. Note that guaranteed room deposit is refundable only if
reservation is cancelled 7 days prior to arrival. Be sure to verify
departure date at check-in; early departure may be subject to a
change fee. Hotel check-in time is 3:00 pm and check-out time is
11:00 am. If you wish to inquire about additional housing in the
Incline Village area, you may call the toll-free number 800-
GO-TAHOE.
Transportation
Attendees should use the Reno Cannon International Airport (RNO),
located in Reno, NV, 37 miles from
the Hyatt, about a one-hour drive. Some transportation options are:
- Executive Limo van, telephone 800-323-3958, $15 per person based
on a four-person minimum, or $60 for one person, one way. Reservations
are recommended.
- Avis Rental Car is available at the Reno Airport, telephone
702-785-2727 or 800-831-2847, and the Hyatt Hotel, telephone
702-832-1234, ext. 4165. A midsize car is approximately $40-$50, unlimited mileage, 24 hr
minimum. Reservations are recommended. There is no charge for parking at
the hotel.
- Yellow Cab charges approximately $50 between the Reno Airport and
the Hyatt. In winter weather prices may increase to $75.
