Enterprise Integration Technologies Corporation is pleased to provide this experimental starter kit for World-Wide-Web (a.k.a., Web) publishing. This collection of software and documents will lead you through through the process of installing a basic Web server and optional extensions. The process has been engineered to be as quick and painless as possible.

In order to use this starter kit, you must already have the following:

• use of a Web browser capable of displaying HTML+ forms (NCSA Mosaic for X Windows 2.2 or better works great);
• an account on a UNIX machine connected to the Internet;
• at least 2 Megabytes of disk space available under that account; and
• working knowledge of basic UNIX commands.

Currently, all the software was written and/or enhanced by EIT (please read the full License regarding this software), but we are planning to include other parties' freeware and commercial software.

Important Note: the CIAC recently (14 Feb 95) announced a potentially serious security hole in NCSA HTTPD 1.3. As the Webmaster's Starter Kit uses an enhanced version of this server, it inherited this hole. To help recover from this, EIT is now releasing the sources to our enhanced httpd, with the CIAC-recommended patch applied, so users can rebuild the server on their platform and avoid the security hole.
