Goals of the Center
The
W.M. Keck Center for Genome Informatics
was established in January of 1993 at the
Institute of Biosciences and Technology
(Texas A&M University) in Houston. The goals of the new Center are to provide:
a computational infrastructure (hardware, software and staff) to support the study of genomes of agricultural (crops and domestic animals) and biomedical interest, as well as model organisms
a forum to promote interaction and exchange of information between the agricultural and biomedical communities
