The N-Team has conducted a one page survey of Langley Civil Servants to "identify Langley software projects and Civil Servants responsible for the development or management of software". The short survey results will be used to select software developers and managers for a detailed follow-up survey. The detailed survey is intended to "determine the baseline state of software development practice at Langley and to establish an experience and resource database for the benefit of software developers".
Under NMI 1240.3B, all NASA Centers are required to carry out "Self-Assessments" in 17 "Functional Areas" such as Equal Opportunity, Facilities Engineering, Procurement, and Security. Self-assessments are "an examination ... of the performance of a functional area, as well as its compliance with established laws, regulations, policies, and requirements." The Langley Office of Safety, Environment, and Mission Assurance (OSEMA) approached the SPQR N-Team for assistance in defining a process for self-assessments of software development projects at the Center. A Self-Assessment Process Response Team (SPRT) was formed to address this request.
A prime goal of the SPQR N-Team is to be an information resource to the software engineering discipline at Langley Research Center. You will find one Resource List of "Other Software Engineering Organizations" near the bottom of this home page. We have also established an activity to create and maintain a Langley Softare Engineering Resource List. This "software experience and resource database" will list Langley software resources (tools, methods, languages, domains, procedures) and corresponding points of contact for the benefit of Langley software developers. The list will be one of the products coming out of the SPQR N-Team Software Survey, and will be made available on this MOSAIC home page.
