The Backgrounds Data Center (BDC) is part of the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization (BMDO). The BDC was established to assist the ballistic and theater missile defense community with its requirements for information to evaluate the Strategic Defense System feasibility, development, and implementation. The BDC is a part of the Space Science Division (SSD) at the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in Washington D.C.
