Oklahoma State University was founded
on December 25, 1890, as Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College.
On July 1, 1957, Oklahoma A&M College became Oklahoma State University.
OSU is located in
Stillwater, a north-central
Oklahoma community with a
population around 42,000. Stillwater is approximately 60 miles from the
Tulsa and Oklahoma City metropolitan areas, and is readily accessible
by interstate highways and air.
The University has an enrollment of approximately 26,000 students on its
four campuses, with approximately 19,000 on the Stillwater campus.
The Computer Science Department offers a full range of degree programs.
The Department is housed on the second and third floors of
the Mathematical Sciences Building (MS).
Computing facilities include a Sequent
Symmetry S-81 multiprocessor, workstations, and numerous NCD X-Terminals
connected to the departmental Ethernet and the Internet.
A variety of software is available to support graduate research
and instruction. In addition, students have access various other computing
resources on campus.
Oklahoma State University is an institutional member of the Association
for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Special Interest Group on
Applied Computing (SIGAPP).
