Located in downtown Ann Arbor, Michigan in the historic Michigan Theater building on Liberty Street, Schoolkids' Records Inc. is comprised of three distinctive record stores and an eclectic independent record label.

Founded in 1976 by Steve Bergman, Schoolkids' has always been a service oriented enterprise.

We pride ourselves on having not only the widest and best selection of recorded music available in Southeastern Michigan, but also on having a knowledgeable and responsive staff to assist and guide our customers.

The Schoolkids' Label

is an independent record label specializing in eclecticism. Founder Steve Bergman has expressed a commitment to releasing and re-releasing extraordinary recordings that other labels overlook because they defy narrow categorization.

From releases of previously unavailable recordings from the historic Ann Arbor Blues and Jazz Festival to new recordings by NRBQ co-founder Steven Ferguson and former Mothers of Invention member, Essra Mohawk; the "secret diva of the 60's", the Schoolkids' Records Label is filling the great musical void that yawns between generic corporate muzak and narrowly defined musical cliques.

SKR Classical

is a nationally renowned purveyor of the finest and most obscure in classical music. Boasting a staff of academically trained experts in various fields of classical music, this store is famous for its lecture series. The SKR Classical newsletter contains well informed reviews and information on current releases.

The Main Store

features our most generalized selection of popular music, jazz, blues, folk, country, and spoken word titles as well as music publications and a kiosk that sells tickets to various upcoming music events.

The Annex

focuses on the newest music from independent labels, hip hop, neo post punkadelic, and foetal toejam type stuff.
