A Family Heritage
JanKris is a family-owned winery and vineyard, located in the green, rolling hills
of Templeton, in the heart of the Central Coast's renowned wine country. The 
quality of the grapes and wines produced on this picturesque estate reflect
the pride of family participation. As a measure of this pride, proprietors
Mark and Paula Gendron have named the vineyard for their two young daughters,
January and Kristin, whose silhouettes appear on every label.


The entire family, including Mark's father, Ernie, and brother Kelley, are
involved in the dawn-to-dusk operations of the vineyard, keeping a vigilant eye
on sun, storm and soil as the grapes mature. At harvest time they work side
by side with the crews to hand harvest the 46 acres, insuring that the fruit
is picked at the peak of perfection. Grapes are then processed under the mastery
of winemaker Michael Black, using techniques such as whole-berry fermentation,
to produce wines that are light, fruity and smooth, at an accessible price.


By selecting only premium varietals and nurturing them with skill, the family
seeks to establish a heritage for these vineyards - a tradition of bringing
nature's promise to its finest fruition.

This knowledge and dedication of the JanKris family has already been rewarded
with numerous medals for their estate grown Merlot, Chardonnay and Zinfandel.
Forthcoming harvests will include Pinot Gris and Syrah.
