The Peoria Art Guild is presenting a juried exhibition, entitled ``Digital Photography '94,'' with the images hanging from April 8 until May 6. The exhibit opening was Friday, April 8, from 5 - 7 p.m.
Sponsored by the Peoria Art Guild, this competitive exhibit sought entrants nationwide from photographers whose work involved the techniques of "digital" (computer) photography.
The world of photography as defined by its 19th Century originators has been expanding beyond the realm of the darkroom and into the arena of pixels and digital algorithms. This exhibition seeks to explore the range of new work being created by the interplay of the camera and the computer. Any two-dimensional image that had its origin in a lens-imaging camera devise and was brought to completion within a computer was eligible.
Artists from 19 different states submitted a total of 81 images for jurying. The jurors were Paul Flexner, Associate Professor of Art at Bradley University; and Steve Justice, Creative Coordinator at Dynamic Graphics, Inc. They selected 25 works from 16 different artists for inclusion in the exhibition.
The Peoria Art Guild is located at 1831 N. Knoxville Ave., Peoria, IL. 61603. (309) 685-7522.
