As a not-for-profit health care provider serving the New River Valley, Radford Community Hospital and its affiliates offer a broad spectrum of PROGRAMS AND SERVICES.
Radford Community Hospital is a member of the Carilion Health System, a network of 13 hospitals throughout Virginia. The hospital employs over 700 persons and has a dedicated corp of approximately 200 volunteers. In the 53 year history of the hospital, the size and scope of services has grown dramatically and the medical staff now totals about 100 ACTIVE STAFF PHYSICIANS
Available at Radford Community Hospital is a wide variety of state-of-the-art medical services including cardiac catheterization, fixed-based CT scanning, mobile Lithotripsy and MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) units, thoracic and vascular surgery, and a 24-hour emergency care center accredited with Level III Trauma Center status. The addition of twenty-seven intermediate/skilled care nursing home beds in the late 1980s and the opening of a Center for Rehabilitative Medicine in 1988 further expanded the scope of services.
A four-phase cardiac rehabilitation program provides patients with instruction and support for lifestyle changes while a newly- remodeled Wellness Center offers an array of programming - all designed for fitness and health.
Community Education Programs which include a broad offering including "We Talk Baby Talk"- a series of classes for new and expectant parents - CPR instruction and safe-driving courses, provide information and instruction on the latest health topics and trends.
In 1994, the hospital received a three-year accreditation by the Joint Commission on Health Care Accreditation. The accreditation is further evidence of Radford Community Hospital's ongoing commitment to provide quality care.
