Company Profile
Durability, Inc. located in Blacksburg, VA, was founded in December 1993 with the mission of developing new products and technologies for the analysis, design and characterization
of high performance engineering materials. The modeling, analysis, and life prediction of composite material systems is one of our major thrusts.
With the support of a strong team of engineers from diverse technical backgrounds, we have established a unique blend of
capabilities ranging from laboratory automation & Training to composite fabrication, modeling, mechanical characterization, as well as
Chemical Analysis and testing. Today, Durability has a leading edge expertise in
modeling, prediction of stiffness, remaining strength, health monitoring and durability of composites & engineering materials as well as chemical
analysis. The Durability Analyzer(C), one of the company's patents, is being developed under an
exclusive license from the Virginia Center for Innovation Technology. In 1993, the company was awarded a grant by the Department of Energy, under
the Energy Related Innovations Program for further development and commercialization of Durability Analyzer. Durability is currently pursuing
funding and marketing partners for developing its original concepts and products, such as the Durability Analyzer, and the Dura-Composer(TM) virtual laboratory software.
Located at the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center, Durability conducts research,
development, engineering and production as well as materials and chemical characterization and consulting related activities in its state-of-the-art facilities.
The company has a licencing agreement with MTS Corporation, one of the largest materials testing equipment manufacturers in the world, for the development of Dura-Composer(TM) virtual laboratory system using National Instruments Corporation
data acquisition and LabVIEW platform. This is accomplished throught the company's Alliance
membership with National Instruments
Corporation.
Through the strength of its scientific staff and
affiliates, Durability has achieved a leadership position in many
areas of engineered material systems, process control, laboratory
automation and Mechanical as well as Chemical testing and analysis.
Our technologies and products are protected by granted or pending
patents, and patent disclosures in various areas of composite
materials testing and analysis, and Analytical Chemistry. A close affiliation is maintained with the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and
its composite research units such as: Virginia institute for Material Systems; NSF STC for High Performance Polymeric Adhesives and Composites; NASA-Virginia Tech Center for Com
posites; Center
for Composite Materials and Structures; Materials Response Group,
Scientific & Visualization Laboratory,
and the Department of
Engineering Science & Mechanics. By bringing university
research results into the industrial environment, Durability
contributes to the development of
technology based job opportunities, and increases the marketability
of academic based research, and
the competitiveness of US products in the world market. Our partnerships and affiliations with all the above entities has enabled us to provide state-of-the-art services and solutions to a wide variety of industries joining our
growing list of clients.
