The DAT-heads mailing list

This is the WWW home page for the DAT-heads mailing list. DAT-heads concerns itself with Digital Audio Tape decks, with an emphasis on their use for the recording and distribution of live music, as done by the followers of the Grateful Dead, Phish, and others.

Are you a web-head?

I would like to put together a dat-homes page with pointers to home pages of DAT-heads. If you have a home page, send me the URL!

Here is the DAT-homes page so far.

Mailing list stuff

To subscribe to DAT-heads, send a message to: with "subscribe" as the message.

Meanwhile, you may want to check out:

An archive of DAT-heads digests is available in either FTP mode or in directory browser mode. I recommend the latter.

Other stuff

Here is some contributed code for doing labels for DAT j-cards.

Check out various files related to the Digital Signal Dissector. NOTE: a new DSD offering which was in the works is now on hold due to a lack of interest. Here's the old pre-announcement.

There is also some information about the Denon DTR-80P remote control unit.

The MDM (Modular Digital Multitrack, formerly ADAT) list is also archived here.

This page put together by Jonathan Corbet in the Atmospheric Technology Division of the National Center for Atmospheric Research with additional input from Forrest Cook. Let us know of any possible improvements, links, etc. that are relevant. Thanks to John Richey jrichey@sitvxc.stevens-tech.edu for the DAT logo.
