University of Rochester's Near Infrared Astronomy Group

Welcome to the University of Rochester's Near Infrared Astronomy Group

24 January 1995

The Near Infrared Astronomy Group is announcing the opening of a postdoctoral position.

The University of Rochester observed the Jupiter-Comet SL9 collision with the University of Wyoming's 90 inch telescope. To pull up the full size version of the first image sent back click on the image of jupiter at the top right of this page.

Click here for more University of Rochester, Jupiter-Comet collision images along with a couple of movies of Jupiter in the infrared after the collistions.

To see some examples of the work we do, go to our image page.

The University of Rochester has been testing and evaluating near infrared arrays for use in astronomy since 1983 under NASA sponsorship. The promising detectors have been incorporated in cameras and spectrometers for astronomical research under NSF sponsorship.

For more information on the associated infrared technology, see The IR Technology Server at NASA Ames Research Center.
