- Marshall University School of Medicine is a community-based institution strongly oriented toward primary care and dedicated toward improving health care for those who live in rural areas. The School has the dynamism of youth; its first medical students and resident began in 1978. Located in Huntington, West Virginia, Marshall School of Medicine is one of West Virginia's two major universities. Its community and rural orientation have helped the school draw well-qualified faculty. The School accepts 48 medical students and provides postgraduate education for approximately 100 physicians each year.
- Residency programs which are currently offered at MUSOM include Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Surgery, Pathology, and a one year Transitional program.
- The Marshall University School of Medicine RuralNet Rural Health Gopher Server and Rural Health WWW presents subject-oriented access to health care related servers around the world, with a focus on those resources most relevant to rural health care.
