The World Wide Web
Announcement: 4th WWW conference
Brussels meeting for European [prospective] members
Clarification on security protocols (3 March)
The WorldWideWeb (W3) is the universe of network-accessible information,
an embodiment of human knowledge.
It is an initiative started at
CERN, now with many participants.
It has a body of software, and a set of protocols and conventions.
W3 uses hypertext and multimedia techniques to make the web easy for anyone
to roam, browse, and contribute to.
The W3 Consortium
now ensures the continued interopability which is W3 though
its rapid evolution.
This is run by MIT
with INRIA acting as European host,
in collaboration with
CERN
where the web originated.
(See hosts).
Everything there is to know about W3 is linked directly or indirectly to
this document.
